Menopause / Perimenopause Consultations

Many of the practitioners consulting from South Coast Medical facilities have a special interest and/or further training in perimenopause / menopause care.

Menopause and perimenopause can affect each woman differently, with a variety of both physical and emotional changes.  It's important to understand the changes that you may experience and the options available to you for treatment and management.

Menopause is a natural phase of a woman's life, there is no set age for menopause to start, although will typically occur between the ages of 45 and 55. 

An initial 30 minute consultation for a menopause / perimenopause assessment will help to identify any issues and address symptoms, creating personalised menopause treatment plans.  During the menopause / perimenopause consultation, the GP will ensure that you are up to date with all other health checks, eg. cervical screening, mammograms. Ongoing management appointments can be discussed with your GP as to whether you require standard or longer consultations.

Advice on symptom management: While symptoms vary between women and in the severity, common menopause symptoms include mood swings, sleep disturbances and fatigue, night sweats, hot flushes, cognitive changes and urinary issues.
