Independent Medical Practitioners

South Coast Medical provides facilities to general practitioners who are dedicated to providing quality patient care to their patients. South Coast Medical also provide training facilities for medical students and doctors specialising in general practice through Melbourne Universities and associated training organisations.

A number of independent medical practitioners consult from South Coast Medical clinics.  South Coast Medical have provided medical care facilities to practitioners for over 40 years.

 

Dr Damian Flanagan general practitioner

Dr Damian Flanagan MBBS Dip RACOG

Dr Damian Flanagan has been a GP on the Peninsula for the past 20 years practicing for most of this time from the Blairgowrie clinic.  He lives in the area and has a keen interest in several of the local sporting clubs that his children have an involvement with.  He is married to Bernadette and has five children from 15 to 22 years.  His areas of special interest include, but are not limited to, chronic disease management, palliative care and optimizing general health of the community.  He has a keen interest in the natural environment and loves to get outdoors, whether this be his own garden, or bushwalking and camping.  He is actively trying to get some time to learn to use his Malibu.

Dr Neil Stitt general practitioner

Dr Neil Stitt is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Dr Stitt has a special interest in palliative care and minor skin clinic. Dr Stitt is a member of the Rye Rotary Club and he enjoys gardening, sailing and the fortunes of the Richmond Football Club.  He’s also a very keen cyclist and competes regularly on the weekends.

Dr Nish Balakrishnan general practitioner

Dr Nishant Balakrishnan  MBBS Bmed Sc FRACGP Dip Surgical Anatomy

Dr Nish graduated from Melbourne University in 2008 and did his subsequent years at the Austin and Northern Hospital in various fields.  He has a particular interest in skin cancer medicine and skin surgical procedures.  He also has interests in aged care and family medicine.  He enjoys all watching and playing of most sports and is a keen golfer.

Dr John Liu graduated from Monash University in 2013.  Since then he has lived and worked in many locations throughout Australia.  The majority of his work has been with Monash Medical Centre before travelling to Mt Gambier, Ipswich, Sale, working as a locum doctor.  He has enjoyed all aspects of general practice.  Outside of medicine he enjoys reading, playing board games and spending time with his family.

Dr Tony Croker graduated from Melbourne University in 1977.  He is married to Jenny with three sons.  His medical interests include paediatrics and sports medicine.  He plays golf, tennis and is an ardent Swans supporter.  He has worked in Rye for 30 years.

Dr Mandar Gokhale graduated in 1993 from the University of Melbourne and has worked on the Peninsula ever since, joining South Coast Medical in 1997.  Dr Gokhale enjoys all aspects of general practice, with a particular interest in Geriatric Medicine. His special hobbies include oil painting, photography and theatre.

Dr Hazel Addison have been living and working at a GP on the Mornington Peninsula for the last 8 years.  She enjoys all aspects of general practice, with a particular interest in women's health and skin cancer.  She is an accredited shared care GP and fits both implanon and Mirena.  She has diplomas in child health and family planning and certificates in skin cancer medicine and surgery.  She is available to perform full skin checks and minor surgery, as well as general medical services.

Dr Ciara Flynn graduated from University College Cork, Ireland in 2008 and is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.  She recently moved to the Peninsula with her family.  She enjoys all aspects of General Practice with a special interest in Women's Health and Preventative Health.  She is an accredited affiliate of Peninsula Health's Shared Care Maternity Program.  In her free time she enjoys being active and exploring the great outdoors with her family.

Greg graduated from University of Melbourne in 1976 and commenced full-time General Practice in Heathmont in January 1980,  after working two years in hospital and a year doing a mixture of surgery and General Practice.  After caring for the local community for more than 36 years he was finally able to fulfil his dream to make a “sea change”.  Greg enjoys all parts of General Practice.  His interests outside medicine are diverse.  He loves to travel overseas, food and wine, music, watching sport, technology and even computer programming on both Macintosh and Windows platforms.

Dr Meera Ramanan general practitioner

Dr Meera Ramanan MBBS MRCGP FRACGP DFRSH

Dr Meera Ramanan graduated in Medicine from India. She commenced her training in Psychiatry in Leicester, England following which she entered into General Practice training. This provided her with all round experience in General Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Paediatrics in hospitals across London.

After gaining membership with the Royal College of General Practitioners she also completed her Diploma in Family Planning. She worked as a GP in London before moving to Australia with her family. Dr Ramanan has also obtained Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Dr Ramanan has a varied and wide mix of clinical and patient-care skills. She is interested in all aspects of general practice and is particularly passionate about mental health, women’s health, preventive medicine and lifestyle management. She practices medicine with the purpose of supporting her patients to achieve their goals of physical and emotional well being.

Dr Ramanan is well versed in speaking English, Tamil and Hindi. She is a mother of two and her interests include movies, following cricket, cooking, travelling, fitness and reading.

Dr Simon Pilbrow general practitioner

Dr Simon Pilbrow MB BS PhD FRACGP

Dr Pilbrow was born in Oxford UK, but has lived in Melbourne for most of his life, and graduated from Monash University in 1985. After hospital years at Alfred Hospital, he spent four years 1988-1991 in colon cancer research at Monash University Dept Biochemistry, completing a PhD in 1993. He obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1996.

His medical interests are within the full range of family general practice and enjoys seeing patients of all ages, and he enjoys working with his colleagues and staff.

He was also involved in the post-bushfire medical clinic at Kinglake after Black Saturday, and for five years was guest GP on a community radio health program

He is married with two adult sons and his interests include music (plays jazz piano), reading, gardening, jogging.

Dr Mark Mclean general practitioner

Dr Mark Mclean graduated from Monash University in 1989 and has post graduate qualifications in rural medicine and is a Fellow of the College of General Practitioners.

He has lived and worked on the Southern Peninsula for a number of years and has established his family life here.

Outside of work he is a very keen cyclist and golfer . He and his wife also run and coach a number of Basketball teams for the local area and their children.

Dr Scott Fifield general practitioner

Dr Scott Fifield MB BS DRACOG FRACGP ACCAM

Dr Fifield was born in Sydney and has lived in Fiji, Adelaide and Melbourne. Having obtained his undergraduate degree through Monash University, Dr Fifield subsequently obtained a Diploma in Obstetrics and the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

He also has an interest in Aviation Medicine, having obtained the Australian Certificate of Civil Aviation Medicine.

Dr Fifield provides a full range of General Practice services, from Antenatal Care and Pediatrics through to Aged Care.

Outside of Medicine, his interests include Family (3 children), Life Saving, swimming, jogging, travel and learning guitar.

Dr Anant Sinha graduated from Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry in the United Kingdom in 2017.  

Graduating as a GP in the UK in 2022, Dr Sinha has relocated to Melbourne with his partner in 2023.  

Dr Sinha enjoys all aspects of general practice.

Outside of work,  he enjoys travelling, watching sports, playing racquet sports, bouldering, cooking and eating.

Dr Alex Romain

Dr Alex Romain BSc, MBBS, MRes, FRNZCGP, PGDipMSM

Dr Alex Romain is from London where he graduated from King's College in 2012. He has worked as a GP since 2018 and enjoys all aspects of the role.  

Dr Romain has a special interest in diabetes, chronic illness, men's health, older people and cancer.

He has a certificate in general dermatology and further training in dermatoscopy, skin cancer medicine and skin cancer surgery. Alex completed a diploma of musculoskeletal medicine in 2023.

Dr Alex Romain will begin consulting from South Coast Medical clinics in February 2024 after seven years in New Zealand where he enjoyed hiking and being outdoors.  He is looking forward to more of this on the Peninsula.

Dr Omeros Kefaladelis MBBS

 

Dr Omeros Kefaladelis has enjoyed working at South Coast medical since 1989. He trained at Melbourne University before moving to the Mornington Peninsula. Omeros looks after 2 nursing home facilities and has a special interest in Palliative and End of Life Care as well as day to day general practice. His other great medical interests include looking after children and young families. When not at work he tries to keep up with 2 teenage boys and a family spread over at least 5 continents.

Dr Taz consults at the Rye clinic. 

Dr Tax is a GP registrar with dual qualifications in both medicine and physiotherapy. After initially completing his medical training in Western Australia, Dr Taz has since gone on to work around Australia including NT, Qld, NSW and has now settled in Melbourne to be closer to his one true love - the Carlton Football Club.

Dr Taz has a special interest in sports medicine, orthopaedics, lifestyle medicine and travel medicine.

In his spare time, he enjoys keeping fit(ish), travelling and watching AFL.

Dr Joshua Wright

Dr Joshua consults at the Capel Sound clinic. 

Dr Joshua Wright graduated from Deakin University in 2021 and has been working at Frankston and Rosebud Hospitals since; where he gained experience in many areas of medicine including emergency medicine, paediatrics and mental health.

He is interested in all areas of General Practice and has completed an additional diploma in paediatric health.

In his free time he enjoys keeping physically active, cooking, gardening and spending time with his partner.
